There are many wonderful places in Poland, but where to travel if you are going for a weekend in Greater Poland? Can a small city have interesting attractions? Where will we get closer to nature? What kind of accommodation to book? We suggest whether to go to Wielkopolska – and if so, where to go?
Weekend in Greater Poland – magical places in nature
Is Wielkopolska a region worth choosing for the weekend? We answer – definitely yes. It is ideal for a trip full of attractions, but also picturesque views. About where to go for a weekend in Wielkopolska can be talked about for a long time, but first you should take a closer look at its landscapes.
A holiday in this part of Poland cannot go without relaxing by a lake. Tourists are also attracted by the dense pine forests, which are a great environment for mushroom picking. They cover as much as a quarter of the entire region! Nature lovers are also sure to observe the large number of water birds around Warta. Those who show perceptiveness will also see beavers. This lowland area is full of nature and charming villages suitable for a quiet trip with children. For those who are interested in sightseeing in addition to nature, we suggest what to do at the weekend in Wielkopolska.
Weekend in Greater Poland – idyllic, interesting places away from the city
In the city there is usually hustle and bustle, noise and glamour. A vacation or a moment of leisure is a great opportunity to get away from this for a while. Lakes, but also parks, will help. To the northeast of Poznań is located the Zielonka Forest Landscape Park. On its territory there are five nature reserves. South of Poznan, on the other hand, lies Wielkopolska National Park. It protects the natural post-glacial landscape and a variety of flora and fauna. For those interested in Poznan, we suggest the Citadel (the city’s largest park), the Warta River waterfront or the forests next to Lake Malta.
Weekend in Greater Poland – attractive accommodation
Since all of Greater Poland is beauty, entertainment and history, then… where to book an apartment? Is it worth choosing an ordinary hotel near Poznan? Weekends in Wielkopolska are unique. So it’s good to choose an equally interesting accommodation. How can you combine a resort located in a quiet place with attractions, history and delicious food? The answer is Wąsowo Palace.
A weekend at the Palace sounds like an unforgettable adventure. The complex in Wąsow includes the Hardt Palace, the Sczanieckis Palace, the Gardener’s House and the Doorkeeper’s House. Each of them has rooms decorated in a different style. Palatial, rustic or classical? The choice is up to the guests. The complex is open for tours. The beautiful palace also has a spa, with saunas, massage rooms and an indoor pool. That’s where the magic happens – a variety of treatments for beauty and relaxation.
It is also a must to try the dishes served by the restaurant in Wąsow. It is located in a complex, and the products it uses come from local suppliers. After eating, you can bet on some entertainment. There is no need to drive to the nearest attractions – there is a billiard room and a miniature golf course on site. In turn, active visitors may be interested in the nearby horse stud. Such accommodation is also a good choice for those who dream of a cottage in a remote area of Wielkopolska. Wąsowo is a quiet, peaceful village. In addition, the palace is located in a delightful English park of 50 hectares.

Weekend in Greater Poland full of tourist attractions
Everyone knows Poznań, which can undoubtedly be visited daily and still find new entertainment. However, what are other interesting places in Greater Poland? We encourage you to visit medium-sized and small towns that are not so often talked about. One of them is Wolsztyn. Tourists usually come to it to see the beautiful steam locomotive depot. This locomotive depot is still in operation despite the passage of more than 100 years! This is not a museum – the vehicles run daily, and those interested have the opportunity to ride a train driven by a real steam locomotive. One of them named “Beautiful Helena” dates back to 1937!
What about museums? In Puszczykowo there is the Arkady Fiedler Museum-Literary Workshop. There you’ll find stunning replicas of objects from around the world like statues from Easter Island or an Aztec calendar. A great choice would also be the Museum of the First Piasts at Lednica – full of relics and amazing sacred buildings.
Weekend in Greater Poland – unusual travels
There will also be something for enthusiasts of unusual places. Those who do not find themselves visiting museums or strolling through the park can opt for a trip to… a mine! We are, of course, talking about the salt mine. It is located in Klodawa, about 150 km from Poznan. Rare pink salt can be found there, and the entire tour takes place as far as 600 meters underground. The Klodawa salt mine provides a ride down a real mine shaft at a speed of 6 meters per second!
Anyone who likes to have fun in new places will like Westernland! It is located in Chocz and provides entertainment for the youngest as well as the oldest. It’s a fantastic choice for a stay for the family – children will love to take part in archery and horseshoe throwing activities. An interesting photo can be taken there, which will be placed on the handbill and banknotes. Any visitor can also watch Indian ancestral dances. This is the only such village in Poland, which will make you feel like you are in the Wild West!
